A Martingale collar was originally made for use with dogs that have necks that are larger than, or equal size to their heads, as owners did not want their dogs to be able to back out of their collars. One such breed would be a greyhound. Although the use of Martingale collars have evolved somewhat, and it is now more often used as a training collar to help dogs walk correctly by your side.

These dog collars work in a similar way to the choke collars, but have adjustments that you can make so that you know you are not going to run the risk of choking your dog if he happens to tug on the leash. The Martingale dog collars are normally made from fabrics rather than the metal of the choke chain so they are much more gentle for your dog to wear.

So how does the Martingale dog collar work exactly? The collars are quite unique in that they have two loops of either leather or fabric, whereas a standard collar will only have the one. As with the more usual collar, one loop will fit over the dog’s head, the other loop is the one that you attach the leash to as it has the ‘d’ ring attachment for that purpose.

With the way this collar has been designed, as soon as either the dog, or the owner pulls on the leash, the second of the two loops will also be pulled and in turn it will begin to tighten the loop which is around the neck of the dog. So by using a Martingale collar you are getting the same benefits as using the choke type collars, but there is no danger of damaging your dog in any way, as you are able to control just how tight the loop will get round his or her neck.

There are many different designs and styles available within the Martingale collar range, so you will now have a problem finding one that you like. Another added bonus is that if you go for the fabric style, they are also washable so you know you can keep your dog collar nice and hygenic.

If you like the leash to match the collar, this is not an issue with these collars, as many of the styles and designs are available as both collar and leash. Here is a great range of Martingale Collars, many of which have the matching leashes available.

We all want our pets to look good all the time, so we tend to be choosy in getting the most appropriate, fancy dog collar. This is to make them feel that we care for them and also to try to make an effort to give them more comfortable collars, so that we know they are going to look great.

Part of grooming our dog is to pamper them. One way to do this is to get them some nice comfortable collar with color decorations to make them look good.

Some of the fancy, yet quality pet collars come in a variety of designs such as the Everyday Nylon collars, Ribbon Collars, Ribbon Overlay and Fabric overlay collars from comapnies such as Collar Mania.

Other fancy dog collars from Collar Mania are Quick release buckle, Chain Style Martingale, Loop style Martingale, and double bar buckle.

Quick release buckle have several styles and features. It is made of plastic material and available in heavyweight and lightweight versions.

Some extremely fancy dog collars can be as expensive as $167.00. The price depends on the number or amount of gold and jewelry or precious stones attached to the dog collar. Some dog collars can be cheaper yet at the same time can still look fancy. These types of unique dog collars are offered by Puppy Dazzles with prices ranging from $49.95 for an extra small leash set to $62.00 for an extra large leash set. This unique fancy dog collar and leash can really vary in price according to the amount of diamonds and rare stones attached.

Generally, we give our pets the best gift we could ever give. We want to give them a comfortable and unique dog collar. This is our way of making our pets feel that they really matter to us and that we appreciate them. Anyway, it is recommended that you check first whether these jewelries are authentic before purchasing.

A spiked dog collar can be a great fashion statement on your dog.

As more owners are looking for a great fashion statement for their dogs, that are not going to cost an arm and a leg, the spiked dog collar is making a definate come back!

A black spiked dog collar was more popular at one time, but now it seems that it’s the pink spiked collar that is selling most with a lot of the major suppliers.

To be honest a spiked dog collar is still often only chosen by those that want to give the impression of a ‘bad boy’ or ‘bad girl’ image. This type of image portrayal for your dog is steadily increasing in popularity, thus an increase in spiked dog collars sales is to be expected.

The spiked dog collar is certainly becoming a very popular type of collar, and if you are thinking about a unique collar for your dog, but don’t want to spend a lot of money on a designer dog collar, why not take a look at a spiked dog collar?

Gone are the days when these were only available in black leather. They come in various colors now, and as mentioned above, the pink spiked collars are outselling the black spiked collars – you could go for tan, brown or even white for your spiked dog collar. These collars make a statement for sure. Whatever color collar you choose you will see that the contrast of this and the color of the spikes looks really good.

One thing that you do need to be aware of though with spiked dog collars, is the safety issue. You need to ensure that your dog’s not going to cause any injury to himself when he scratches and hits the spikes. There are some collars out there which look pretty lethal, and I would think that your pet could very easily end up hurting himself scratching with one of these collars on. You will also need to look carefully at how sharp and long the spikes are from your safety point of view. If you suddenly have to grab hold of your dogs collar if any emergency should occur, you don’t want to be stabbing yourself with extra sharp spikes.

It’s always going to be a safer option to go for the shorter spiked collar styles – nothing that is going to be dangeous for you (or anyone else) or your dog.

Remember that it’s not just the owners of the large dog breeds like pitbulls and rottweilers that are buying spiked dog collars, many of the smaller dog owners are going for the spiked look for their pets.

So if a spiked dog collar takes your fancy, why not buy one for your pet? You will find that you will be able to locate one that matches to both your personality and that of your dog.

Buying custom dog collars that are personalized around your dogs personality are becoming very popular. We all want our dogs to look great, and they certainly will with custom dog collars.

Why do people want to buy their dogs custom dog collars? One of the main reasons that owners decide to treat their dogs to a beautiful custom collar is because they don’t really see their pet as just an animal, to them, their dog is very much part of the family.

This is part of the reason why custom dog collars have become so popular over the last year or so. They also go some way to giving your dog a more defined personality which some see as a huge benefit.

Anyone who already owns a dog, or even more than one dog, will be aware that each dog has its own very distinct personality and lots of owners love to show this personality off by buying their dog a custom collar. The collar can be used to express so many things, not just your dog’s personality, but it can also be used to reflect on your relationship with him or her.

Of course a custom dog collar is going to be made specially for your dog, so it will be an absolutely perfect fit. This is probably more important with the smaller breeds of dogs, as they need to have collars that fit well. This is probably why the market for custom collars in the smaller sizes is the largest, with the market for the giant sized breeds having less buyers than the other groups for medium sized and large breed dogs.

Another great thing with custom dog collars is that you are not going to be limited as to which materials it can be made from as you would going into a regular pet store and buying a collar.

With a custom dog collar you can add almost anything to want to – gold, diamonds, gems and any other jewelry. The limit to what you add is really down to your imagination. You will have complete control over how you want the collar to look.

Many people choose lovely pink custom dog collars if they have a female dog, these can look gorgeous. Just adding a few diamonds, or even diamonte for a bit of sparkle can really set off a pink custom dog collar. You could even have her name spelled out on the collar. How cool would that look?

For the boys, especially the large breeds you could have some very masculine looking silver added to it, or even add spikes, or studs that spell out his name.

Really the possibilities for a custom dog collar are endless, and you can have great fun in deciding on colors and what you want to add to it.

Whatever design of collar you eventually go for, you can be sure that your dog is going to look the bees knees walking down the street!

Your dog is unique, and deserves a unique collar. What could be better than a personalized dog collar?

Personalized Dog Collars come in so many shapes and sizes – you will be sure to find just the right one for your pet dog. Here are a few ideas for your personalized dog collar, so take a look and see which one is going to be best for your dog.

You can get a personalized collar made from leather with the name of your dog emblazened with studs, diamonte or many other types of decoration. You could go for a personalized dog collar made from webbing with your dogs name printed on it – this would be available with a choice of backgrounds as well as a choice of coloring for the name you wanted.

You no longer have to stick with a plain leather collar in tan, black or brown! You can dress your dog up in a lovely personalized collar that really shows off his or her personality.

For a little girl you could go for a beautiful glitzy pink collar with her name in lovely shiny jewels. Don’t you think she would be proud to walk around wearing this? If you have a masculine looking dog, why not go for his name in studs? I’m sure he will feel great wearing it. Just think of the amount of comments you and your dog are going to get when you walk out together. How many people are going to stop you and say how great your personalized dog collar is.

Having a designer dog collar is not going to cost you an arm and a leg either, so why not take a look at the great range of personalized dog collars that are available?

A dog collar is generally available in three or four sizes. First size would fit a miniture dog, the second size would be suitable for a small dog, the next size would be suitable for a medium sized dog, and lastly you will have collars that are suitable for the larger breeds. Some suppliers of designer dog collars will also make collars suitable for the giant breeds, although to be honest these are a little harder to come by.

Not only will having such a beautiful collar look great, it can also be an extra safety measure if you decide to have your dogs details put on the inside of the collar – you can also buy lovely tags that will match with the design of the collar you have chosen. You no longer need to stick to the large, and often ugly, metal tags that are standard practice on most run of the mill dog collars.

This is a small sample of the type of dog collar that you can buy for your dog, that can be personalized to suit yours and your dogs personality, take a look and see what you think.
